Headquartered in Rajnandgaon, Chhattisgarh, Gearcon Engineering delivers premium EOT Crane services worldwide.

OVERHEAD EOT CRANES

Electric overhead traveling cranes or EOT cranes are a common type of overhead crane. They consist of parallel runways, much like rails of a railroad, with a traveling bridge spanning the gap. An EOT crane is able to carry heavy objects to anywhere needed on the factory floor, and can also be used for lifting. There are basically 2 types of EOT cranes:

  • Double Girder Overhead Crane
  • Single Girder Overhead Crane

The following standards are commonly used for design of Cranes whenever applicable:

IS 3177 Code of practice for EOT crane and Gantry crane other than steel work cranes.
IS 4137 Code of practice of Heavy Duty EOT cranes including special service machines for use in steel works.
IS 807 Code of practice for design, manufacture , erection and testing (structural portion) of Cranes and Hoist.

There are different classes of Cranes as per IS: 3177. All cranes are manufactured from Class I to Class IV duty according to working conditions.

Class I For general light duty operations.
Class II For loading/unloading works. Maximum number of cranes used in industries fall under this category. Mainly used in workshops, processing plants and ware houses.
Class III For working in Rolling mills, loading unloading works with full load.
Class IV For heavy duty purposes, mainly used in handling hot metal fluid (with Slip ring motors).

DOUBLE GIRDER OVERHEAD CRANE

  • GEARCON manufactures Double Girder crane up to 80 Tonnes. Its main components are Double box girder, lifting trolley with rope drum, brakes, lifting hook, gearbox etc.
  • It moves along length of shop (long travel) with end carriages attached to crane of each end to control movements. Electrical control systems are provided separately for each movement.
  • These are preferred over Single Girder crane due to its stability and rigidity during operation and for high loads and spans.

SINGLE GIRDER OVERHEAD CRANE

  • Single girder cranes are designed to aid with a range of hoisting and moving operations. They enhance daily production and provide an ideal solution for facilities and operations with limited floor and overhead space that need a light to medium duty crane.
  • Single girder cranes use less material and are more compact and lightweight, which results in a significant cost-savings in material, freight, and installation.
  • The construction of a single girder crane consists of a single girder beam, known as a bridge, which runs the building's width. A trolley moves horizontally along the bridge, positioning a hoist and hook, which is used to raise or lower the load.
  • These are used for lighter loads (up to 20 Tonnes). Low head room cranes which minimize the cost of shed/building are also available with us.
